In 2019, the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), punitive articles, were reorganized and updated to meet contemporary standards of conduct. Changes were a result of a Presidential Executive Order and Congressional action. The current UCMJ differs greatly from previous Military Police Guide to the Federal Criminal Code editions.

A 30-year veteran of law enforcement and the US military collaborated with a seasoned military police officer in the development of this best selling legal guide. Careful thought went into its design and extensive research resulted in a reference that meets the needs of military law enforcement. It has been specifically developed for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), Coast Guard Investigative Service (CGIS), United States Marine Corps (USMC), Department of Defense Police, Installation Management Command  (IMCOM) police, and military and security police who serve within all branches of the Armed Forces. Professional military law enforcement practitioners routinely purchase this book and use it world-wide. This is the only book on the market that includes the Uniform Code of Military Justice, punitive articles, and the United States Code, Titles 16,18,21, 25, 41, 49, and 50. The United States Code (USC) and UCMJ are cross referenced throughout the book in addition to an extensive index. Cross referencing provides for quick access to laws and leads the user to the correct offense by listing the associated or related offense(s). A glossary is provided to define terms and phrases used in the book. Laws are displayed and networked so enforcement officers can apply the appropriate law whether the offender is a civilian or military member. This handheld field guide provides easy direction for law enforcement while in the field. It is organized in a quick accessible format.

In March 2018, through Executive order 13825, President Trump signed into law the most historic and significant changes to the UCMJ since it was created in 1950. The changes include combining several punitive articles and adding new ones. The new streamlined UCMJ, punitive articles, are easier to use while displaying related offenses. Law enforcement should be aware that offense numbers formerly cited may not be the same with the revised coding system. For example what was "Article 134 [42] Quarantine: Medical, breaking" is now "Article 84 Breach of medical quarantine". The former "Article 84 Effective unlawful enlistment, appointment, or separation" is now "Article 104a Fraudulent enlistment, appointment, or separation".
